Depression has become a big issue in America along with Anxiety. What's the difference? Depression is misery while Anxiety is fear. Many young people of today have either or both of these. Depression is up 47 percent with millennials. According to the Pew Research Center, 36 percent of millennials don't have a religion and this is a national problem. Millennials are much more foreign to Generation X and especially foreign to Baby Boomers. They are the generation that weren't given success since people started throwing God out of their lives. People stopped being parents. Many parents became what you call helicopter parents. Many young people don't believe in religion since they either lost all faith or someone else convinced them that there is no God or we are not sure. I wrote a blog post a while back about Oprah saying that America has lost church as it's core moral center and it has! 32 percent of millennials live with an unmarried parent nowadays and that makes life dysfunctional. The divorce rate was at it's highest in the 1990's and so was crime and this has hurt the children of today. Past generations threw away what the generations gave who preceded the 1960's. The 1960's was a weird generation. Some see the 60's as either a generation of change or a generation of disaster. This plays into the future. To all young people (and I am one of them), have faith in Jesus Christ and realize that life is tough and the only person that can make the world a better place is you. Always remember, "We love because he first loved us." - 1 John 4:19

Well tonight I am talking about a big subject in the news. Jeffrey Epstein, who knew that someone who was just an American wealthy financier would become the big news for whether or not our government is evil. Even though the medical examiner said otherwise, I still believe someone probably involved with Bill Clinton killed Epstein. Let us not always believe what we hear and question the truth if it is the truth. This has been a shady situation. A man who was nothing but a sexual predator financier would make Americans question if our government is moral. That should scare a lot of people. I looked at the situation from a non-political perspective and I don't see how the Trump-Epstein conspiracy is plausible. Many democrats thought that it was the Russians. I spoke about this on twitter @SchmidtCatholic and I was accused by many of being a Russian bot, None of it made sense. There isn't much evidence for the trump conspiracy. Trump did host parties for Epstein but Bill Clinton had private plane trips with him, Epstein and Clinton were close friends. Come on people, try to think more outside the box. I do not believe Epstein committed suicide on his own accord. He had stuff on a lot of people and I believe someone in America silenced Epstein like how the government tried to silence Snowden for what he knew about our government. If only Epstein had not committed the sexual sins he did, he would have been fine. If only he could have just lived to tell the tale. But, like many others in history, he was silenced. America has silenced many people who know secrets. We still don't know who killed JFK. It's sad when a country like the United States doesn't even know who killed President Kennedy, It is sick. Remember to you all, look into things with an open heart and don't be afraid to have a different opinion than others. Epstein's death is a stain in American trust and I hope more people who know secrets in this country are no longer killed. Hopefully, we can have a country where everyone is safe. But, that is not how life works.

Today I am talking about Flavius Josephus, The famous first century Romano- Jewish historian who made many great books such as The Jewish War, Antiquities of the Jews, Against Apion, The Life, and according to Jerome and Eusebius, he is apparently the author of the apocryphal book 4th Maccabees which is only accepted as scripture in the Georgian Orthodox Bible and is in the appendix to the greek bible. Anyways, I will be talking about what Josephus said about our Lord Jesus Christ. This is important since it is the only record in the first century that supports the gospels in the bible. It is from Josephus's book Antiquities of the Jews published in 93 A.D. This is a shorter blog today but I will leave you with this quote.
About this time there lived Jesus, a wise man, if indeed one ought to call him a man. For he was one who performed surprising deeds and was a teacher of such people as accept the truth gladly. He won over many Jews and many of the Greeks. He was the Messiah. And when, upon the accusation of the principal men among us, Pilate had condemned him to a cross, those who had first come to love him did not cease. He appeared to them spending a third day restored to life, for the prophets of God had foretold these things and a thousand other marvels about him. And the tribe of the Christians, so called after him, has still to this day not disappeared. - Jewish Antiquities, 18.3.3 §63

I recently got an email that I have been selected for the Top 100 catholic blogs on feedspot. I am number 117 which is amazing and I thought I would post something that is more of a light subject today and that would be the story on how I became a catholic. I was not born into a catholic family. I was a member of the Missouri-Synod Lutheran Church up until I was 11 years old. Since I was two years old, I always had a love for the Virgin Mary. No one could explain where I got this and for many years I would watch Mother Angelica on EWTN. I always loved Mother Angelica and she was to this day the most inspirational catholic I've ever watched on TV. The early 2000's was a great time for EWTN with Father Corapi, Mother Angelica, and the earlier days of life on the rock. EWTN was at it's best and I loved all of it. By the time I was 11 years old, I would go to lutheran bible studies for kids and I always felt there was something missing. My mom didn't know what to do with all this so she went to my baptist great grandmother who told her to leave it alone and let me do my thing, She was a baptist! When I was 10 years old, I decided to learn more about the lutheran faith and I found some things that weren't that good, I studied Martin Luther and I saw more bad than good. When I found his book On the Jews and their Lies, I was shocked. It wasn't the Lutheran Church's fault for this being a stain in their history and I am not saying that Catholic Church history hasn't had stains before. The Catholic Church has had many antipopes and heretics. But, you got to admit. It is pretty bad when the founder of your church like Martin Luther who what originally was just a protestor to the corrupt catholic church at the time went too far blasting books out of the bible and wanting others to praise his image. Then that is when I realized that Jesus Christ founded the Catholic Church and that is what drew me in after years of hints and clues. I left my lutheran church to the sadness of my pastor and my former pastor before that one. Also, if you are a lutheran and reading this, I am not condemning your church as heretical, it's just that Martin Luther's legacy is troubling especially in his later life and that doesn't mean he fully represents your church in the modern world nor should we hide his legacy all the time. Anyways, I joined the Catholic Church and attended a Catholic School. I am happy with that and I am now writing a catholic blog for you all. Thank for reading this and everyone is welcome here. If you have an opposing opinion, that is fine. I love you all and God bless you, the reader and God Bless America.

Recently, America has been under attack by judges blocking states of state's rights. Let me be clear on this, I know that Abortion was decided to be legal in the supreme court in 1973 but the supreme court was never perfect and the Dred Scott decision is the biggest example I can give. Americans are widely divided on Abortion. 49% of the United States is pro life and 48% find abortion to be morally wrong. I am very pro life and I want babies to be protected when God brings them into our beautiful world. Now back to what I was saying about the fetal heartbeat bill, this bill is being struck down in many states that have passed it by judges who wave their pro choice flag. States since 2013 have tried to pass it but failed like Iowa, Ohio, Kentucky, etc. The news has gone quiet on this bill since June and we need to stop this. Bad stuff is going on behind closed curtains and as American catholics and citizens, we need to come together and say NO. Together, we can show the world that America makes mistakes. Too many people want America to be viewed positively to everyone else on earth. This is a false way of thinking, many countries do not like the United States and there is nothing we can do with that and these countries are either too conservative or too liberal compared to America. Americans need to focus on America. We are a world super power. China may be taking that away from us but that doesn't mean we are like an underdeveloped country in Africa. Anyways, The Fetal Heartbeat Bill make abortion illegal as soon as the fetal heartbeat is detected. The reason why these judges are blocking states federally from doing this is because they are scared. They are scared of change in America. Many liberals say that conservatives are scared of America changing but at many times it is the other way around. liberals don't want women to have children, they would rather have a woman be a single empowering feminist. There are women who are called to a single life without children or a husband but that doesn't mean a political party like the democratic party should attack women with children and paint it as women's rights. I am a big supporter of women's rights but not abortion rights and I shouldn't be condemned as a bigoted fascist sexist pig for having a different opinion. Too many americans now want everyone to have one opinion of everything and that can lead to communism down the road. call your house representatives and senators and tell them that you want the fetal heartbeat bill passed since even the plaintiff of Roe V. Wade in 1973 later became a catholic pro life activist and regretted what she did. Her name was Norma McCorvey and I think that if Norma was still alive today, she would have supported the fetal heartbeat bill and for those liberals who think I support anti-abortion violence can shove it where the sun don't shine. We can be peaceful in this battle against abortion. Life is sacred and we can take care of it together. It just takes time.

One of the biggest head scratchers in the new testament in the stories of Jesus is the cursing of the fig tree to many christians. Why would Jesus do such a thing? Atheists seem to attack Jesus for doing such a thing to a fig tree since he seems too much like his father Yahweh in the old testament. Well, atheists don't seem to read the next scripture that comes after verses 18-20. The cursing of the fig tree represents how christians doubt God and think of themselves. Christ wants us to have faith and be active in prayer. All of us humans don't wanna even do the simple things Christ wants us to do sometimes. It is because we live in a sinful world. Many people see the fig tree representing the Jewish nation and that is true but here is my thoughts, I see it also representing the temptation of sin. Christ says if you have faith and never doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it will be done. When Satan approaches us, he bears bad fruit. He is the king of trickery and evil. Christ wants us to fight Satan since satan may come out as bearing good fruit to those who are tricked like the forbidden fruit in Genesis but really Satan is nothing but leaves only. When Christ approaches Satan, Satan withers. Remember, Pray to Jesus Christ and don't lose faith.
